The
seminarians and religious rose one morning on the 29th of August,
taking the sacred silence which conquers the solemnity of the whole compound. Having
the ambiance, everybody took their journal and a Bible, went out into a quite
field beside the seminary chapel- others find their own place where they can
have their contemplation. It was the day with the Lord, when the birds are
singing, the world awake. Seminarians often marvel at the exuberance of birds
in the early morning. Sometimes, considering the sparrow can help to imitate
the simplicity of life. What a wonderful recollection shared with pure silence
and repentance.
“”A“Ad Quid Venisti?” (Why are
you here?) This is the heart of morning recollection which revolves in one
sole reason for everyone’s quest in choosing the religious life – to follow
Jesus Crucified. Fr. Anthony, the novice master and the superior of the Community
sets the mode of the seminarians by introducing a beautiful song, “I have decided
to follow Jesus” and was accompanied by himself playing the song chords using
the guitar. In relation to discipleship (Ad Quid Venisti), the Community feels
this renewal of responding to this same calling. Fr. Anthony being the
recollection animator mentioned in his talk that no other people called someone
for this one goal, not Fr. Stan (Seminary
Rector), the vocation director or anyone but only JESUS. Later on, the
power point presentation caught the attention of everybody. It was the history
of the song produced in India that parades the radical conversion of a simple
man to Christianity regardless of political and religious upheaval of the
country.
The tenet of Christian faith relies
on the ministry of Jesus and His disciples. The recollection plays on putting
the disciples in a psychological scrutiny where turned out to be the disciples
whom are the most great, failed the evaluation and the humble, simple and
unknown are perfectly fitted.
Some
will say, “Lowly but chosen”. It is indeed the irony of life in which Jesus planned
to be. The Wisdom of God is not the wisdom of man. The humans cannot determine
who shall be qualified - formation does.
HOHope offers everything in
human. Having a closer look to the disciples of Jesus, they opened hope in the
minds of those who are aspiring. God can do extra ordinary
things through ordinary people.
Being slaves of the creed,
the disciples followed a rabbi, teacher and master. Knowing the one to follow
entails many requirements to comply but can be found not in Facebook, Twitter,
Instagram, Foursquare, Linked-in, Pinterest, Meetup, MeetMe, ClassMates, Flickr,
and other networking sites. The ways to know the master is not those in social
network, but first imitate relationship and listening to Him.
As a young
adult, the seminarians made a re-commitment to Christ by this monthly
recollection, praying He would help them to fulfill the missions in life He had
chosen for them. The more seminarians sought through prayers and study to
follow Jesus and submitting life to His will, the more they felt an aching
sense of longing to devout their life entirely to serving him. Gradually, the
birds that sing and the way dawn’s first faint rays peak over a dark horizon,
the conviction that the Lord was calling them through Don Orione began to grow.
