The New Year in Montalban Community was filled with great enthusiasm and thanksgiving in commemorating monthly the memorial of the Founder, St. Luigi Orione. It was a providential way indeed that we are also entering into the journey of the Silver Year in the boldness of charity that Don Orione imparts through the serving Christ and the poor. The 1st Orionight for this year were joyfully
celebrated last Saturday, January 16, 2016. Inspired by the communion of the
bishops, clergy and the religious on the 26th in Cebu City for the
International Eucharistic Congress, the seminary culminated the celebration of
love and culture gifted to the country, the Philippines, in the 495th Jubilee
of its Christianization.
“ORIONIGHT: Live Christ, Share Christ!”- taken from the Catholic
Bishop’s Conference of the Philippines Pastoral Exhortation on the Era of New
Evangelization-was the theme of the event. The Conference of
Bishops instilled by the clergy in all local churches, have declared the Year
of the Eucharist and of the Family. They are acknowledging the faithful to
culminate the living remembrance during the Last Supper-the Eucharist to be the
fountain of sacramental values for vocations and evangelization.
The highlight of the said
event was the celebration of the Holy Eucharist in St. Luigi Orione Chapel
presided by Fr. Anthony, the Superior of the Community, rector of the seminary,
Fr. Stan, and Fr. Stefan, the community Vicar. The seminarians, novices and professed
brothers bequeathed their extra-ordinary talents also for the success of the celebration.
The Socio- Cultural Committee held the Beautification of the Dormitory in
search for the “DOMUS FIDELIUM” (The House of the Faithful) –and the dormitory
who will garners many scores from the judges will receive the title. Dormitories
will laid their artistic designs based on the theme which is the Eucharist. The
seminarians showed their full efforts in decorating, cleaning and organizing
things in the house as well. Lastly, Fr. Luigi Piccoli Dormitory brought home
the bacon as they received the DOMUS FIDELIUM Award
for this Year 2016. Since the seminary have four contesting houses, entries
were also four. The third contesting dormitory was entitled, the DomusPacis or
House for Peace, Second Prize, the Domus Caritatis or House of Charity, and the
First Price was the one who received the DomusMisericordiae in line to the
celebration of the extra ordinary Holy Year of Mercy. After the Open House for
judging and allowing the visitors to enter the houses, community dinner were
served in a simple open area of the seminary garden like celebrating a great
feast in a beautiful oasis.
The ScholaCantorum- the seminary
chorale rendered angelic presentation in making the theme realized. The
International Eucharistic Congress were sung by selected seminarians behind the
enchanting spotlights arranged by the committee. The night was indeed a
combination of different genres seeing in a theater. The batch of seminarians
presented variety of themes- singing, dancing, and acting. What inspired us
most were the presence of the visitors, friends, and the family of our upcoming
aspirants this school year. For now, the seminary is anticipating again for the
16th of the months, hoping that in every moments that we’ve spent,
the more we live Christ in us and shares His glory in the people living with
us.
