Knowing Each Other, Getting Together

On the 2nd day of June, we held the continuation of our team building. We rose early at 4:00 in the dawn heading into our area prepared by the 4th Year as a venue for the morning lauds. “TakBOKASYON- a run for Vocation is the theme of the morning activity. In our sweet Filipino language, takbo means run and bokasyon means vocation- squeezing the words to complete the said title. We solemnly prayed at the start for strength and immunity- mind, body and spirit- as we start our fun run activity. The whistle of Sem. Pablo became an indicator of receiving a signage, a signal or instructions on the entire day as we went from the seminary going along Wawa Dam. This opportunity of going to this historical area is very vital for especially when we have our pastoral ministry in the chapels. We have three residing parochial chapels near the Wawa Dam, the Sto. Niño Chapel, Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage Chapel and the St. Vincent Ferrer Chapel in Sitio Sabangan. Stories says that this dam was the source of water supply of the entire Metro Manila before until they discovered the Angat Dam. Still, there is a strong clamor to beautify and improve the tourist destination.
In the end of our academic year last March, Fr. Stan cited a very nice parathesis on exercise. He told us that “A healthy body leads us into a healthy mind”. Our minds become the channel of our living spirituality, minds can manipulate our senses, and minds can change the world in a glimpse. Everyone arrived in the seminary with back pains and muscle cramps. They absolutely feel the distance of a kilometer run. Others attempted to run continuously, others preferred also to walk and took a short breath. The best thing we observed was, we have not seen seminarians running alone. We ran together as one family. If someone felt dizzy, someone was there to assist. If something went wrong, everyone was so attentive. We became our brother’s keeper. In our vocation, we cannot reach our goals alone. Indeed, no one among us is an island. After the breakfast, seminarians grab their short break by napping in preparation for the next challenging activity. The Amazing Race prepared by the facilitator was still designed in three categories, the Mentalert, Physicalert, and the Spiritualert. We questioned about details on our congregation like ‘First Successor of Don Orione, Fr. Charles Sterpi’, to surpass and have with them the next station. Thanks be to God for those seminarians who have really retentive memories to curtail their time in their challenge. Practices were also observed in the afternoon. We gave them the dynamics on making a drama or script centralizing the life of a seminarian. Some were assigned in ‘Seminarians at the parish, at home, in school particularly CLARET, the community life and the life in our apostolates. During our spirituALERT at night, we chant the Divine Mercy Chaplet with the accompaniment of guitar instrument. After the prayer, the session hall looked like a theater studio as the teams act productively in their mini- drama. The Orange Team took the scenario on parish apostolate where seminarians encouraged the youth to participate in the chorale and perform basic catechesis. The Blue Team exaggerated the community life by their comedy scene of portraying the ‘makulit na seminarista’ inside the seminary. The Yellow Team inspired us all; they portrayed the seminarians who are taking actions and catechesis in their apostolate area. Others have projected themselves gracefully by their unique performances.

During our third day, we experienced the heat of the sun as we continue our group dynamics. Each member of the teams wore a good jersey and rubber shoes for our friendly game. The day ended up with sprinkles of water. The compound became so wet when teams tried to defeat the others by destroying their flags using the water wrapped in plastics. In our culminating activity and cultural night, Ma’am Lut gave her message- later on the exuberant Fr. Stan- who inspired us really. They welcomed us through nice and encouraging words.

We ended up the day with a thankful heart. We discovered every paradigm that can impel us to our religious discernment. Though everybody is tired, we don’t forget to recognize and to recommit ourselves to God who is there in every activity we make.
