June 29, 2017: A wonderful three-fold celebration in Montalban

3 in 1 (three in one) that is what one could say of the celebration which took place in the Community of the Sons of Divine Providence of Montalban, in the Philippines.
We celebrated today in the solemnity St. Peter and Paul the pillars of the Church, the Pope’s Day, the official entrance in the Novitiate and the Installation of the newly appointed superior of the Community of Montalban.
This has been the agenda of this June 29, 2017, in the Community of the Sons of Divine Providence of Montalban. Starting early this morning with the Morning Prayer, 15 young men, 4 from Kenya, 5 from the Philippines and 6 from India made their entrance to the Novitiate.
The words of Don Orione addressed to the emblematic Novice Master of the Congregation, Don Cremaschi resounded at the feat of the Rolling Hills. It gave to our 15 new Novices to know the meaning of the school in which they enrolled today. “The novitiate is in any case a test, the novitiate is a school of religious virtues, it is a holy forge where every novice must fashion himself, according to the Holy Gospels and the Congregation's own spirit.  It is a place where he must separate himself from the world and from every vain, secular and worldly habit; where the novice must, with strength and generosity, detach his soul from everything, and not only from the people most dear to him - loving them only in the Lord - but, with Divine help he must detach himself even from life, even from his own self.  If he cannot do this he will not be a good religious.

The novices must, as their first priority, consolidate their vocation, excluding any voluntary doubt.  Then they must study the nature of the test they must undergo, the method they must follow, according to the means you show them and the help you give them.  You will help them to strip themselves of their faults and to acquire the virtues in order to achieve the end.  They must wholly conform to Our Lord Jesus Christ, put on Jesus Christ, both within and without, and live Jesus Christ.
For entry into the Novitiate we do not seek perfect subjects, but rather those desiring to become perfect, resolutely willing to become perfect - with God's help.”
To these, Fr. Anthony, upon entrusting our 15 new Novices to Fr. Fausto Franceschi, fdp, new Novice Master, recommended them to the intercession and the Motherly Care of Mary, Our Lady of the Bleu Mantle, Patron of our Delegation, (Missionary Delagation “Mother of the Church”).
Later on, exactly at 11 am, the Community of Montalban in its whole composition, The Novitiate led by Fr. Fausto Franceschi, fdp, the Cottolengo by Fr. Julio Cuesta, fdp and the Seminary gathered to celebrate with great solemnity the Feast of the Pope, in honor of St. Peter and Paul. During the Eucharistic celebration presided over by Rev. Fr. Anthony Eucinei Desouza, fdp, Local Superior and Coordinator of the Sons of Divine Providence in the Philippines, Fr. Stanislas G. Achi, fdp, was installed as new superior of the Community of Montalban.
Following the prescription of the Constitutions of the Sons of Divine Providence, he solemnly professed the Nicene Creed. The Montalban Community Council is composed as follows:
Fr. Stan ………………… Superior – Seminary Formator
Fr. Fausto …………….... Vicar – Novice Master
Fr. Julio …………………. Councilor – Director of Charge of Cottolengo
Fr. Joseph Van cu …...... Councilor – Spiritual Director of the Novices
Bro. Ramon…………….. Councilor – Seminary Assistant Formator - Vocation’s Director
To our New Novice Brothers we wish a blessed Novitiate Year made of closeness to God and openness to the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and in the knowledge of Don Orione, and to the newly installed superior of the Community and his Council success in their mission. May they stand, after the example and under the intercession of Saint Peter and Paul as faithful stewards of Christ and zealous defender of the faith put in practice in the works of Charity, to “Instaurare Omnia in Christo”.  Ave Maria and always onwards with Saint Luigi Orione.
