GRAND ORIONIGHT: DON ORIONE IN ONE WITH THEE

If people will happen to see the appendix XV of the congregation’s prayerbook dedicated to Don Orione, they will discover the sophistication of being a religious. It will say that, “Creativity is not a luxury for literary people, or for those with a taste for words, but it is rather a necessity arising from the need to live one’s own worship of God with a greater awareness, as well as to adjust it to one’s own spirit and to that of the participants by means of a more complex involvement, not only for the group of prayer but also of individuals.” Inspired by the commentaries published to many countries for the congregation’s liturgical worship, the Montalban Community entered also the Holy Week with a commemorative celebration, thanking St. Luigi Orione, our Founder for a prayerful year and steadfast love to everyone in the Community. Last 21st of March, we have officially closed the academic year 2015-2016 through the Eucharistic Celebration and looking forward for abundant years to come. The concluding mass was presided by Fr. Eucinei Antonio de Souza, the Local Superior concelebrated by Fr. Stan, fdp, Rector of the Seminary and Fr. Stefan, fdp, the Community vicar.

“Don Orione, In One With Thee!”, was the theme of the cultural night. The choice of theme was from the inspiration of the Congregation’s great motto, “To establish all things in Christ”- celebrating the oneness to Jesus, Mary, the Pope and the Poor.
There were banquets of presentations prepared by seminarians who happened to initiate it after a brain-drained final examination week. As a thanksgiving night for almost two decade and half of the Congregation in the Philippines, we centralized our choice of songs to the music popularized during the year 80’s, and 90’s. After the Holy Mass, different people coming from many different places occupied the wide-basketball court of the seminary. We have shared also buffets of foods to express our oneness in the Community. Seminarians ushered everything for the Community dinner.
The doxology, sung by the seminarians – Sem. Angelo, Sem. Pablo and Post. Jeric- was in line also of the theme. “In One With Thee”, is a song, and a name of an album also, with collection of songs composed by Mark Cuevas, a former Filipino seminarian of the Congregation. After the invocation, the seminarians and novices presented their talents. The first year was captured by their remixed “Shalalalala in the Morning” dance, a song portraying a thoughtful heart who sings joyfully every moments of the day. They have opened the program with so much enthusiasm. The noisy ambiance of an empty space of the court was conquered excessively by the sophomore batch. They have gorgeously count on steps for their “Let’s Get Loud moves”. For almost 400 years of Christian evangelization here in the Philippines, the third year emphasized also the tradition and beauty of the shore as it primarily served as the port for navigating and spreading trades and culture. The remarkable, “Pearly Shell” who cheered by the audience was played in the stereo with accompaniment of graceful moves from the Juniors in the seminary. Lastly, the postulants also exhibited their talents as a response to the challenge of creativeness. The novices contributed a well-done script produced by their Novice Master, Fr. Anthony, directed by the Bro. Rowel Obal, the assigned tirocinante in the novitiate house. They have showed the narration and story of “The Prodigal Son” and they made it creatively to some contemporary settings, and thus, very adaptable to the modern world.
In the latter part of the night, Ma’am Lut, RGC, the Vice Dean of St. Anthony Mary Claret College and the present Guidance Counselor of the Seminary expressed her gratitude and overwhelming intention to present the graduates to the guests and friends. It was the initiative of Fr. Stan to render a certificate through Ma’am Lut as a recognition for an untiring effort of the Fourth Year to surpass the academic endeavor. It was the most meaningful part because it is the first time for our Congregation here in the Philippine to have a graduates coming from the Philosophy School, after changing some aspects of formation in the seminary.
The Grand Orionight was concluded by the creative fire dance. Ablaze by the love of Christ, our pursuit for mission does not end there. It is just the start of our meaningful journey in harnessing young people to dedicate their lives to Jesus - various to service and joyful prayer.

A contribution of Sem. Pablo Jordan
Beadle of the Socio-cultural Committee.
