The end of the academic year in the SLOS (Saint Luigi Orione
Seminary) has been pounded with many joyful events among which the graduation
of three (3) of our Seminarian-Postulants in AB Philosophy.
QUEZON CITY, Philippines -- During the 29th
Commencement Exercises of the Saint Anthony Mary Claret College (SAMCC),
undergraduate Philosophy department last 19 March 2015 (Saturday), at 2 pm, were
graduated 36 seminarians from different religious Congregations and Institutes with the degree
Bachelor of Art major in Philosophy. Among the 36 graduates, three (3)
seminarians are from the Congregation of the Little Work of Divine Providence
who graduated with honors namely Czar
Lawrenz Ponaya (Cum Laude), Nestor Taroy,
Jr. (Cum Laude), and Jeric Batas.
The graduation ceremony was held at the Institute for Consecrated Life in Asia
(ICLA), with 2 graduated magna cum laude
and 11 cum laude. The ceremony was
two-fold event: The Baccalaureate Mass followed by the Commencement Exercises.
It was a first-time experience of our Congregation to have a
graduate of Philosophy before the entrance to the Novitiate being the next
stage in the formation year of an aspirant. Normally, as had been the process,
a seminarian has to enter first the novitiate and only after the first profession
and later after 2 years tirocinium, would
continue college which had been found to be disturbing if not unsatisfactory
manifested in the thesis writing. The new program of college education was a
brainchild and an initiative of Rev. Fr. Stan Achi, FDP, the incumbent rector
of the seminary with the Saint Luigi Orione Seminary Guidance Counselor Ms. Ma.
Lutgarda G. Carlos, RGC (SAMCC Vice Dean) which aims to have a continual and uninterrupted academic formation, finishing Philosophy, and later on, the entrance
to the Novitiate.
The FDP seminarian-graduates are very much grateful to the
Congregation onto which they are postulant of, and they would call it work of Divine
Providence in line with their Orionine orientation.
Aside of that, the end of the year has given
also to many of their young brothers to move forwards in their vocational
journey. For the coming academic year, our three graduates and their
batch-mates, seven (7) in all will be moving for the stage of the Novitiate if
their application are approved. Six (6) of their young brothers will go for the
fourth year philosophy and the stage of postulancy, twelve (12) will be
starting the third year and eighteen (18) the second year. We accompany them
with our prayer, wish refreshing vacations to all and double our prayers for
new and holy vocations in the Little Work of Divine Providence. Ave Maria and
forwards with Saint Luigi Orione.
A Contribution of Post. Nestor Taroy Jr. and Fr. Stan. fdp.
