Come, Holy Spirit!

In the spirit of a solemn celebration with the Vicar General, the seminary community here in the Philippines opened up the academic year with the Mass of the Holy Spirit. This long invocation irradiates the purpose of guidance- in which prayers are all due for the success of another formative year in the seminary.

The three-day recollection transpired by the spiritual activities and sessions with Fr. Oreste made us realize various dimensions in our formation and in our spiritual maturity. More importantly, recollection will not be possible without the total silence. It is only us who felt the presence of God and talk to Him through reflections and prayer vigils in this silent moments. We also held the Celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation wherein all were refreshed and joyful in receiving God’s mercy and forgiveness to start the year.

The Opening Rite ushered the whole celebration in welcoming us in this endeavor. There we pledge that we seminarians are surrendering ourselves to the consent of formation team, allowing ourselves to be molded by the rules and regulations of the seminary. After the rite happened in the seminary main house, the congregation proceeded in the chapel for the Mass. It was presided by Fr. Oreste Ferrari, fdp and Fr. Stan Achi, fdp. In the mass, the newly-elected Steering Committee pronounced their oath in service inducted by Fr. Stan, the Seminary Rector. It was so memorable for us, here in Montalban Community that we spent remarkable moments with the Vicar General. He told us in the pictorial, “It will be the memorable picture in history”. Indeed that will be, because time will unfold yet we know he will be very busy in his missions.

Our heart’s thanksgiving to the success of starting the year full of love and graces. The celebration was concluded by announcing officially the new member of the formation team, Fr. Justin, fdp who will be with us on the 11th of August with Fr. Anthony. He will be shepherding the professed brother, in much the same way that he will be watching over the community to help Fr. Stan in forming young men. After the Eucharist, we dined together in a banquet with clear minds and happy heart ready to face the challenge of whatever undertakings we have in months coming. Hail Mary and forward!
